The band TREND established in 1979 was the follow-up to the 70’s Hayward based
band Satin-Steel. It signaled a change in direction and personnel. Fronted by Singer-
Songwriter Robert Max (aka Robert McAllister and Kari McAllister) it also continued with
guitar player Mike Markovich who was a mainstay till the end in 1990.
Other personnel came and went over time but the line up started to firm up with:
1983
Mike Markovich - Guitar
Ollie (Byron) Rantale -Guitar
Doug Reed – Bass
Chuck Nelson – Drums/Percussion
Robert Max – Lead Singer
Later changes finally led to:
Dave “Chance” Schwantz on Guitar to replace Ollie Rantala
Brian George on guitar moving Dave Chance to Bass
Ken Crampton on Bass replace Dave Chance in 1985
Joe Murazzo on Drums
Which became the group to record “Catch the Dream” released in 1987
A 45 was recorded and released in 1979 that featured “Whips and Paddles” a tongue-

In 1985 the band recorded a four-song demo produced by Bill Cutler at CD Presents in

included on the “Catch the Dream” album in 1987. The band make-up was Robert Max,
Brian George, Mike Markovich, Dave Chance, Joe Murazzo also included hired-gun

The band played through-out the San Francisco Bay Area at venues large and small.
Numerous shows at the Keystone Berkeley and Palo Alto and The Stone SF gave us
opportunities to open for The Producers, Ronnie Montrose, Flock of Seagulls and also
The Tubes on numerous occasions.
